Hello Sifu Lucas

I have now watched the DVD.

The form is very similar to the form I have learnt only minor differences, but the theories and principles remain the same. Very nice to see the form being performed slowly and the contraction and relaxed aspects of each technique can be clearly seen.

I also enjoyed the seminar footage of the form and application of principles and theories as shown in single and double chi sau.

The wing chun centerline, triangular stance / energy and footwork were well demonstrated.
Just a shame I live on the South East Kent coast and that I am not nearer to your classes.

Thank You.

Hi Lucas,

Just watched the seminar DVD from 2008, it's very good and informative, good stuff on Chi Sau and above all it looked great fun.

Nice One

Hi Sifu Castrounis

The dvd arrived today and plays perfectly. Thank You. Although I believe it was not meant as a teaching tool, there's a still lot to learn, mostly Your and Franco's wise tips on many points (Chi Sao expecially): learing process is a complex thing in human beings but we're lucky enough to have such great techers like You, guys! Wish to have more Lucas and Francos! Please, don't misunderstand me: they're not blatant compliments. I do believe that people like You can lead us to be better persons. As You know, it's not only a physical practice.

Thank You!

Hi Lucas,

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the Sil Lim Tao 'The Form of Emptiness' DVD. It has improved my understanding of the first form a great deal, and I'm hoping that will soon show in the way I perform it. I find it helpful using the DVD to do the form at home because I can see in detail exactly how it is supposed to be done. The drills are shown in great detail by you and the senior students. It's fun to watch and there is something to be learnt by students of all levels.

When I first came to you to learn the wing chun system my knees were shot to bits from years of going up and down ladders hod carrying when I was younger. After only a few months of starting my knees were virtually pain free and I could even go running, which I hadn't been able to do in years. Better body structure is just one of the many benefits of this wonderful system.

Thanks Lucas, best wishes.

Dear Lucas,

I have just purchased your latest DVD, Siu Lim Tao 'The Form Of Emptiness', and it is excellent. I have purchased many Wing Chun videos and DVDs from mail order or from Soho London spending up to £40 for something that is 6\10 for picture quality and understanding. Thank you for this long awaited DVD it is Simple, Clear, and Precise 10\10

The Siu Lim Tao 'The Form of Emptiness' DVD reminded me of your seminars and your teaching style...Cool.

My only real comment is that it's so much more than just the Siu Lim Tao. You gave them so much infomation. If the people watching the DVD are clever and understand, there's a DVD's worth just in the first 10 minutes!

Also you discussed so much footwork, you could of called it a footwork DVD. I just hope people understand just how much information you have given away.

The content of the Siu Lim Tao 'The Form of Emptiness' DVD is excellent and very impressive. I feel that I will be able to use this dvd as a great reference tool for the first form especially as a lot of attention is paid to single hand, double hand and fan sao. There is enough information there to last many months of training for any student, beginner or more advanced.

I do also feel that even for outsiders it provides a good "alternative" approach to practicing wing chun perhaps in a more scientific way than many other clubs are used to. If the guy is smart then they will be able to understand and maybe apply the concepts in the dvd to their wing chun, no matter how different their usual way of training is.

Filming a "long" form in the Siu Lim Tao 'The Form of Emptiness' DVD manages to communicate the importance of the form for structural stillness and mental emptiness rather than only the technical aspects of it.

By exploring the basic drills there was a lot of information about the concepts and mechanics of Siu Lim Tao (lines, flow, spring-loaded forward energy, reducing tension, other hand, making sure the hips connect to the elbow, body structure) that can be applied to the actual practising of the form itself. The DVD remindered me that you can use all the drills to test whether the automatic programming of the form is working or is correct.

Wing Chun Quotes

Wing Chun is a tool to serve the individual.

Wing Chun kung fu is a very sophisticated weapon - nothing else. It is a science of combat, the intent of which is the total incapacitation of an opponent.
