Annual Summer Workshop 2006
Almost all of the Reading Kwoon students were present and we were joined by our guests Pietro Garibaldi (from Franco Regalzi's school in Italy) and Alain Nguyen (from Paris, France). There was a nice mix of all the senior and junior students.
The most senior students - Nick Ratcliffe, Craig Harry, David Munro (who since October 2006 is the representative/training guide of the Reading Academy at the High Wycombe branch), Dan Creswell and John Hawthorn - made the workshop to look so easy for the juniors students. I very much admire and I appreciate their assistance.
During this workshop we covered all the forms, including the Butterfly Knives and Long Pole. In the mornings we practised by Caversham River and the British weather was very hot and sunny so it almost felt like we were in Greece! In the evening we experimented with the wooden dummy and lots of awesome chi sao.
This year was also another opportunity to discover new talents like George Jones, Ashley Decoy, Joe Hewett, Robert McEwen, Rob Chung, Bhavini Patel, Gil Perry, Sam BartlettĀ and Matthew Beale. I strongly believed that was the best delivered workshop ever and I had the best quality of attendees.

Great workshop. Really nice to touch so many hands, have a laugh, be comfortable and see Wing Chun in a new light! The seniors were really helpful and the weekend was fun. Really good weekend.
Super workshop, beacoup d'information tout au long de ces 3 jours, et en plus la meteo etait avec nous! Que demander de plus??!! Merci pour lenseigmenent. Un grand merci aussi aux autres eleves: tres bon niveau!!
Great workshop. Was amazing to see all the old drills, in a new light, and even come out in chi-sao. Good to play with old and new hands, and real enjoyment from all.
This was the first time I truly saw the potential of the Wing Chun system. Playing a wide variety of drills and hands made this weekend well worth it.
A truly great experience worth every drop of sweat.
Wing Chun Quotes
Traditionally, when someone committed himself/herself to martial arts, he/she prepared himself/herself for a very long process. That was the first characteristic a master looked for in an individual before accepting him/her as his/her student. Today, people are not as patient. They want everything given to them fast because they are "paying" for it. With this kind of attitude, masters of martial arts dish out either diluted or pure garbage to this type of customers.
Do Wing Chun and don't think about 'self defence'. Self defence doesn't work.

Lucas, thanks for the 3 day workshop, I enjoyed the 2nd day the most. I can see some of the doors now. You have shown me "how to fight without fighting". To the coming years.
